Job Summary

Join our team at BJ's Wholesale Club as a licensed Optician. You will be responsible for dispensing spectacles and other optical products to both adults and children, working with prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists. You will advise and assist patients with various types of lenses and spectacle frames, including style, weight, and color.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify order data entry and compare Rx to original Rx provided by the doctor to ensure accuracy
  • Deliver sales by providing excellent Member service in person and over the phone
  • Take measurements, assure correct frame selection for Rx power, and read prescriptions on the lensometer
  • Educate patients on the benefits of available products and recommend those that will improve their visual needs
  • Engage with members in front of Optical during downtime
  • Adhere to all privacy and company policies and procedures
  • Assist Optical Manager with opening and closing procedures

Qualifications:

  • Must be licensed to work as an optician within the state and keep the license up to date and active
  • Knowledge of optical products and business practices preferred
  • High school diploma, college degree, and/or big box wholesale, retail, and/or optical experience is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail required

Environmental Job Conditions:

  • Most of the time is spent moving about frequently on hard surfaces
  • Frequently requires lifting objects up to 20 pounds and may require assistance for heavier objects
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area with frequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises
