Child Care Center Dishwasher/Prep Cook
  • Assist in preparing attractive and nutritionally balanced meals and snacks that taste good to children.
  • Ensure food is cooked and served appropriate to the age and development for each age group.
  • Provide children with food allergies appropriate food and maintain proper systems including proper preparation to avoid cross-contamination, labeling, plating, and serving.
  • Communicate with Chef to provide an efficient functioning food program.
  • Ensure food supplies are properly stored and adhere to Health Department regulations.
  • Ensure cooking utensils, plates, cups, equipment, and serving pieces are cleaned and sanitized and properly stored after each meal and snack.
  • Maintain inventory of serving utensils, plates, cup and bowls and ensure adequate supply as center numbers change.
  • Unload and store deliveries.
  • Sweep and mop floors as scheduled and as needed due to spills.
  • Wear proper cooking attire such as hair restraint, apron, gloves and adhere to center dress code policy.
  • Assist Chef with proper care and maintenance of all food service equipment and report maintenance issues.

Full-time hours: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday or

Part-time hours: 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., Monday - Friday

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Be 18 years of age
  • High school diploma
  • Food Handlers or Food Manager certification, must be obtained within 10 days of hire. YMCA will pay for and support earning it.
  • Experience working in a kitchen, prepping fresh food and washing large quantities of dishes.


The successful candidate will be required to undergo and pass a criminal background check as a condition of employment as this position is in a licensed childcare facility. This process is designed to ensure the safety and security of our employees, participants, and organization.
