The Pediatric Physician will provide comprehensive medical care to children, including diagnosing and treating illnesses, monitoring growth and development, and offering guidance on children's physical, emotional, and social well-being. The physician works closely with parents and caregivers to ensure that each child's health needs are met through preventative care, treatment plans, and education.
$160 - $170 an hour
Key Responsibilities:
Examine and Diagnose:
Perform routine physical exams to assess the growth and development of infants, children, and adolescents.
Diagnose and treat a wide range of illnesses, injuries, and conditions specific to children.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as X-rays, blood tests, and other specialized tests.
Treatment Plans:
Develop and implement appropriate treatment plans for acute and chronic illnesses, including prescribing medications and therapies.
Provide vaccinations and preventative healthcare.
Monitor patients' progress and adjust treatment as needed.
Patient Education and Support:
Advise parents and guardians on proper nutrition, safety, hygiene, and general health care for their children.
Provide education and counseling to families on pediatric conditions, immunizations, and milestones in physical and cognitive development.
Offer guidance on mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD.
Collaborative Care:
Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including pediatric specialists, nurses, and therapists, to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
Refer patients to specialists when necessary for more targeted treatments.
Emergency Care:
Provide urgent care for pediatric emergencies, such as high fevers, infections, or injuries.
Be familiar with pediatric life-saving techniques, such as resuscitation and emergency procedures.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
Stay updated on new medical developments, pediatric guidelines, and best practices.
Participate in hospital rounds, case discussions, and departmental meetings.
Qualifications:
Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatrics.
Licensure: Valid medical license to practice in the state.
Experience: Residency in Pediatrics; Fellowship in pediatric sub-specialties (optional).
Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, empathy for working with children, and the ability to manage stressful situations calmly.
Work Environment:
Pediatric physicians may work in hospitals, private practices, or clinics. The role can involve long or irregular hours, including nights and weekends, especially when on call for emergencies.
Compensation:
Salary varies based on experience, location, and type of practice, typically ranging from $150,000 to $250,000 annually, with potential bonuses and benefits such as healthcare, retirement plans, and professional development opportunities.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
