The Med Surg Float Pool Nurse plays a vital role in providing care across multiple departments, including medicine, post-surgical, and emergency settings. As a Clinical Nurse, you will assess, coordinate, plan, direct, implement, and manage patient care, focusing on progress toward discharge and smooth transitions during acute care stays. You will be responsible for ensuring that compassionate and proficient patient care is delivered consistently to all customers, including referring facilities, hospital staff, and patients.
Hourly Range: $36.73 - $60.93
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, procedures, and special tests, and document treatments as per company policy and regulatory standards.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions.
- Assess and evaluate patient needs and their responses to the care provided.
- Utilize sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
- Provide primary and emergency care for work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses.
- Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.
- Collaborate with the nursing team to develop an individualized Plan of Care for all patients.
- Direct and guide ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of a recognized professional nursing program that conferred a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree.
- Must hold a current New York State Registered Nurse license.
- Obtain and maintain certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- A minimum of 1-3 years of clinical RN experience is required.
- A minimum of 1 year of Telemetry or ICU experience is required.
- Commitment to improving job performance through continuing education.
- Strong knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving techniques, with the ability to apply them in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement initiatives.
