Our client is seeking an experienced Electro-Mechanical Engineer to join their team in NH, specializing in the design and development of UL891 switchgear. In this role, you will design custom switchgear solutions that meet customer-specific requirements and comply with UL regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems and the regulatory standards associated with UL891.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and cross-functional engineering teams to understand project specifications and customer requirements for switchgear design.
- Develop electro-mechanical designs for UL891-compliant switchgear systems, ensuring adherence to industry regulations, safety standards, and engineering best practices.
- Create detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and 3D models using CAD software for switchgear components and assemblies.
- Conduct analyses to ensure the durability, performance, and reliability of designs under various operating conditions.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies and internal quality teams to ensure all designs meet UL891 standards and obtain necessary certifications.
- Participate in prototype development, testing, and validation to ensure product functionality and safety requirements are met.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing teams during the production process, assisting in troubleshooting and addressing any design-related issues.
- Continuously improve designs based on testing feedback, industry trends, and customer feedback
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Sound engineering knowledge of electrical power fundamentals and general knowledge of power system protection.
- Proven experience (3+ years) in switchgear design, with extensive working knowledge of applicable UL standards, such as UL891, UL508A, and UL1008.
- Experience in Switchgear busbar system design, to meet UL891 requirements, including electro-magnetic force effects.
- General understanding of transportation, installation, and connection requirements to ensure designs can be safely received and properly installed at construction sites.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for designing electrical and mechanical components.
- Working knowledge of the UL compliance process including experience in combining new product development with existing listings to minimize testing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Effective communication skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and explain complex technical information.
The pay range for this position is $75,000 to $125,000 yearly.
