Description

The Town of Needham is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Clinician with the Department of Youth & Family Services. Reporting to the Director of Youth & Family Services, this role involves providing individual, group, and family therapy, providing crisis intervention, and connecting individuals to essential mental health services. In addition, this position will help to develop and implement enrichment programs and will represent the division in local committees and coalitions focused on youth and families and mental health initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background, excellent communication skills, and a passion for reaching out to underserved populations.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver individual counseling services to clients, families, and groups, implementing individualized treatment plans and providing crisis intervention services, when applicable, and utilizing evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments to understand the unique needs of individuals, collaborating with other mental health professionals, agencies, and community partners to ensure comprehensive support for individuals in crisis.
  • Collaborate with community partners to organize educational workshops, support groups, and recreational activities as well as conduct outreach activities to promote mental health awareness throughout the community.
  • Assist individuals in accessing and navigating available mental health resources and services, advocating for clients in securing necessary services and overcoming barriers to mental health care.
  • Design and implement engaging therapeutic enrichment programs and groups for youth and families.
  • Provide crisis intervention services, including de-escalation techniques and coordination of emergency mental health care when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records, documenting assessments, interventions, and progress.
  • Generate regular reports on therapeutic activities, client engagement, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with all relevant privacy and confidentiality standards.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field required.
The following requirements may be substituted by any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job:
  • Two years of experience working in mental health field.
  • Licensed or license eligible as a mental health professional (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, etc.) or the ability to obtain licensure within three (3) years from the date of hire.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, LGBTQ+ affirming, and multi-culturally competent with an understanding of social determinants of mental health.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
