Cape Cod Child Development Center

DUTIES :

Plans and executes early childhood education and development activities. Teaches children with a variety of educational material and programs. Collaborate with parents to promote understanding and follow-up

actions benefiting the children. Directs caregiver and volunteers to ensure activities are executed as planned.

Ensures that program plans and activities incorporate the observed needs of the individual children and youth. Implements activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of children. Incorporates special instructions provided by parents such as special dietary needs, physical needs, or other information that may affect the child or youth's experience in the program. Prepares and implements program options for children and youth with special requirements.

Demonstrates, instructs, leads, and facilitates planned and spontaneous program activities. Role models developmentally appropriate practice and classroom or activity area management techniques. Promotes and models safety, fitness, health, and nutrition practices. Helps prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials. Inventories equipment on a recurring basis and recommends replenishing damaged, missing, and depleted supplies. Establishes a program environment that sustains participant interest and promotes positive interactions with other children, youth, and adults. Helps arrange for and/or serve appropriate snacks or meals where applicable. Interacts with children using approved child guidance development techniques.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

Minimum :

  1. Two-year degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development or related field of study, which can include Youth Recreation,

    Physical Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Youth Development, Psychology, Social Work, Home Economics with an

    emphasis in Human Development, or other degrees as appropriate to include the Child Development Associate (CDA) and two years of

    experience.

  2. Ability to satisfactorily complete background investigation - National Agency Check with Written Inquires (NACI), upon hiring and renew

    every 5 years.

  3. Possess and maintain the physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds, walk, bend, and stoop and stand on a routine basis. Duties may

    involve working both indoors and outdoors.

  4. Must be able to read, write and speak in English.

    Preferred (in addition to the minimum):

  • A BA/BS degree in child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education or other degree appropriate to the position from an accredited college or Associate of Arts (AA) degree and at least 2 years' experience in child care or preschool environment.
