Overview

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital proudly serves the health care needs of families in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. The 102-bed community hospital provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services including the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital, the Breast Health and Women's Center, the Cardiology Center, the Neurosurgery Center and the Outpatient Surgery and Endoscopy Center.

Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital is an Accredited Chest Pain Center and carries a Level II stroke certification. Additionally, the hospital's medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, dermatology, surgery and pulmonology. Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital also offers outpatient services including physical therapy, a sleep lab, and cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation.

Role Purpose

The Sonographer, Cardiac Tech - Lead functions as lead and resource for other sonographers in the department. Participates in hiring process and training of new sonographers, contributes technical feedback for sonographer performance evaluations, and maintains RDCS credentialing requirements of all sonographers. Serves as technical director for Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) department accreditation, and facilitates/maintains accreditation standards and process. Testing modalities will include transthoracic, transesophageal, and stress transthoracic echocardiograph.

Responsibilities
Serves as Technical Director for Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories Accreditation. Functions as Technical expert for the department, and is a resource for other sonographers regarding difficult and complex cases. Participates in hiring process and oversees training for new sonographers and establishes ongoing training for all cardiac sonographers. Acts as a liaison between technologists, physicians and area support staff. Suggests equipment modification and evaluates accuracy and quality of ultrasound images. Provides technical feedback and QA of studies for sonographer performance evaluations. Performs and provides oversight of ASE-guided, non-invasive cardiovascular testing in an IAC inpatient and outpatient lab to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac disease or injury, including advanced pathologies and anatomies. Performs and provides oversight of testing in routine, non-routine urgent and emergent patient care situations.
