About the Position: Serve as a leader of a team of Information Technology Specialists in the delivery of Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Inofmration Management (C4IM) services to the Depot and off-site customers. Responsibilities Assure that the work of the team is carried out by performing a range of coordinating and supportive duties and responsibilities. Make adjustments to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks. Check on work in progress and review completed work to see that the supervisor’s instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met. Maintain current technical and leadership knowledge to answer questions from team members on procedures, policies, directives, etc. Estimate and report to the team on progress in meeting established milestones and deadlines for completion of assignments, projects and tasks. Resolve simple, informal complaints of employees and refer others, such as formal grievances and appeals, to the supervisor or an appropriate management official. Oversee the management of various types of Local Area Network (LAN), Campus Area Network (CAN), and Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity to include supporting the automated devices linked to the network. Monitor and support the overall Information Assurance (IA) architecture and ensures compliance of network security protocol. Basic Requirement for Lead Information Technology Specialist (Policy Planning/Network): Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Working on projects related to the design of small data networks and architectures to meet standard and unique requirements; 2) Clarifying and disseminating information technology requirements to a team or organization; AND 3) interpreting and advising information technology policies, standards, and/or guidelines. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11]. The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing thorough and accurate work independently, even in the most difficult or stressful situations; occasionally reviewing work completed by others.
