Description

  • Provides direct and indirect patient care in the emergency care setting. Provides care that reflects initiative, flexibility and responsibility indicative of professional expectation with a minimum of supervision. Is able to triage safely, rapidly and accurately, every patient that enters the emergency care system. Determines priorities of care based on physical and psychosocial needs, as well as factors influencing patient flow through the system. Communicates with Emergency Department physicians about changes in patient's status, symptomatology and results of diagnostic studies. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
  • This position will work directly in conjunction with the Emergency department manager and assist in departmental needs as directed.
  • Provide continuing education to nurses and other medical staff to complete requirements or to update clinical nursing skills as new methods and technology become available. Oversee the use of Lippincott and teach staff how to use it.
  • Develop and conducts annual competency validation process. Develops/coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency.
  • Assess, plan and implement programs for staff development to upgrade and maintain competency skills.
  • Works closely with new hires and current staff within assigned locations to facilitate orientation, competency validation and meet ongoing learning needs. Provide ongoing mentorship and serve as an example to nursing and patient care staff.
  • Organize, schedule, and present continuing education for nurses in the Emergency department.
  • Performs direct specialty nursing services to patients as required.
  • Collaborate with clinical educators, medical providers, patient care staff, and unit management in the planning, implementation, and delivery of educational curriculum.
  • Initiated skills development programs within the parameters established by facility and nursing management and system clinical educators.
  • Serve and actively participate on assigned committees, both unit specific and hospital education. Participate in the development of education and unit policies and procedures as appropriate. Assist in assuring compliance with the requirements of regulatory agencies.
Minimum Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with,4 years Registered Nurse experience preferred;
  • Current RN license within the state of practice;
  • Current BLS Certification;
  • ACLS
  • TNCC
  • ENPC
  • CEN preferred
