POSITION PURPOSE Responsible for the implementation, and administration of IT policies and procedures. Responsible for assisting with the development of business continuity strategies for the IT area. Responsible for performing help desk duties including setting up new users, assisting users with network and telephone access, and resolving connection problems. Installs, upgrades and backs up software. Monitors network utilization and security systems. Provides technical support to end users and answers questions. Maintains activity logs and makes recommendations for improving the help desk function. Notifies supervisor of significant problems and recurring errors in equipment. Ensure that network practices meet regulatory standards which are monitored through internal and external audits. Works with other employees to develop IT related processes and procedures. Responsible for the IT help desk function of the credit union. Involved in special organizational projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Assumes responsibility for the effective performance of IT Generalist duties. Grants network rights to users in accordance with departmental and security guidelines. Supports users with IT related issues and handles support related tickets and phone calls. Manages user network and e-mail accounts. Monitors file servers. Monitor software backups, disk space and system usage. Upgrade software as directed. Assists with the scanning and electronic filing of paper documents. Learn daily, weekly, and monthly processing function of core system software. Evaluates, tests, and recommends software and network system updates. Ensures that effective security systems are in place to protect network data. Monitors backs up PC and file servers daily. Ensures that appropriate safeguards are in place to detect computer viruses. Scans network and software as needed to detect viruses. Ensures Credit Union compliance with software licensing agreements. Ensures Credit Union compliance with regulatory requirements. Assist in development and implementation of IT network planning and strategies. Ensures that departmental goals are met. Analyzes data so as to ascertain the credit unions current and future help desk and equipment needs. Works in conjunction with other IT personnel and the Compliance Officer in developing BCP strategies for the IT department Assumes responsibility for performing timely and effective user support services. Assists users in accessing n twork and telephone resources. Provides phone, e-mail, and in-person support to end users. Installs and maintains network and user software as directed. Troubleshoots problems with hardware and software. Maintains an activity log of problems, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for action. Provides training for end users on installed and network software. Takes work orders and coordinates with other IT personnel (if necessary) to assist users with more complex problems. Assumes responsibility for the effective and efficient maintenance of computers, telephones, and peripheral equipment. Repairs or replaces dysfunctional computer/telephone/printer parts as directed. Contacts vendors and arranges for upgrades, updates, patches and replacements on software and hardware products as directed. Analyzes problems and provides technical assistance to solve them. Corrects routine operating problems by entering alternative or corrected operating commands. Maintains current logs of all PCs, printers and versions of software installed. Assumes responsibility for maintaining effective business relations with end users and outside vendors. Identifies opportunities to improve user satisfaction. Provides information, answers questions, and tracks and resolves problems promptly. Maintains supportive relationships with users to ensure that their needs are met. Preserves professional relationships with outside vendors when requesting upgrades, replacement parts and assistance. Projects and maintains the Credit Unions reputation. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Company personnel and with management. Maintains regular contact with all departments to obtain information and to correct errors in network operations. Distributes materials on updated projects. Assists area personnel with computer operations. Trains and supports users. Keeps users informed of the status of their requests. Informs management of area activities. Notifies supervisor of system malfunctions and operating problems that cannot be corrected by routine procedures. Attends meetings as required. Completes records, reports, and logs timely. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned. Ensures that work area is clean, secure and well maintained. Completes special projects as assigned. Preserves confidentiality of Credit Union records. PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS IT Generalist functions are performed effectively and in accordance with established policies and procedures. End users are well supported. Software and hardware problems are carefully reviewed and promptly resolved. Computers, phones, and peripheral equipment are well maintained. Professional business relations exist with users and outside vendors. Required system reviews are completed in a timely manner. Required reports are generated accurately and timely. Successful completion of projects in a timely manner. Management is notified of computer/technical activities and significant problems. Comply with the Information Security Policy and the Business Ethics and Conduct Code. * QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Associate or Bachelor degree in information science or related field, or relevant certification from recognized industry, trade, or technical school. (Or high school graduate with a minimum of two years of additional college level computer network system training; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered).
