POSITION SUMMARY

To further the mission of the camp through the delivery of outdoor adventure menu programs that are

safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers' age and abilities. The outdoor facilitator is responsible for

setting up, teaching, and cleaning up a variety of programs for all age groups of girls. Program

areas include archery, boating, hiking, horseback riding, climbing wall, and more.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Enthusiastically lead outdoor programs as assigned, following curriculum while also adapting to the needs of the group.
  • Encourage girls to step outside their comfort zone and take on leadership roles during the program.
  • Attend Outdoor Facilitator Orientation and training.
  • Assure campers are properly supervised at all time.
  • Be aware of and implement health and safety guidelines.
  • Listen to feedback from the group about the program and bring the feedback back to the Outdoor Adventure Specialist.
  • Willing to obtain First Aid/CPR certification and other necessary certifications as needed.
  • Be responsible for program equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to Outdoor Adventure Specialist.
  • Be a role model to participants in your attitude and behavior.
  • Become a registered member of Girl Scouts of the USA every year of employment.
  • Strong human relations, problem solving, and conflict management skills required both in person and on the telephone when speaking with volunteers, staff, and organizations throughout the community.
  • Ability to provide professional customer service.
  • Able to lift and/or manipulate up to 25 pounds.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience working with youth and adults in an outdoor setting preferred
  • Knowledge of the Girl Scout program preferred
WORK SCHEDULE
  • Position requires flexibility with a schedule that is based on need
  • Position requires candidates to work evenings and weekends on an as-needed basis; some overnight program coverage may be needed
  • Seasonal Position - Fall: September - November and Spring: March - June

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Operates in a professional camp environment. Ability and willingness to work in various activity areas

within camp (archery, campfire, waterfront, hiking, etc.) in all types of weather from rain, snow, extreme

heat and cold. Must be able to move around the camp property to assist campers in their activities. Will

spend majority of hours each day standing and interacting with children.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no supervisory responsibility.
