About the Position: Red River Army Depot (RRAD) is located in northeast Texas. The depot's enormous maintenance mission includes the repair, rebuild, overhaul and conversion of tactical wheeled vehicles. For more information on Red River Army Depot, go to the following web site: www.redriver.army.mil Responsibilities Observe the quality of work is performed to ensure compliance in the final acceptance inspection stage. Monitor the periodic calibration of equipment specified to ensure equipment is calibrated. Perform final inspections to ensure Quality Assurance criteria is met. Recommend electroplating improvements on vehicle components to remain in compliance. Utilize work specifications to detect problem areas to prevent production of defective items. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electroplating Inspector without more than normal supervision to include initiating request for service when the integrity of the material is questionable. I can perform common duties to include recommending electroplating improvements on vehicle components to remain in compliance, utilizing electrolytic equipment such as electroplating anodizing, film treating, and other protective plating processes covering to complete the electroplating process, and utilizing required personal protective equipment to perform electroplating duties. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Inspect Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort-May be required to lift weights up to 45 pounds without assistance, and over 45 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment. Working Conditions-Exposed to possible burns from steam, hot water, acids, hot oils, and metal. Subject to skin irritations due to contract with acids, bases, and other chemical compounds or solutions. Subject to noxious fumes, dirt, considerable noise, and excessive humidity. Works with gloves and other protective equipment or clothing. Works in eye hazardous area requiring wearing of safety glasses and other safety equipment. NOTE: Subject to travel CONUS and OCONUS locations on short notice.
