Computer Operator Level: Hourly Location: Fort Wayne, IN Division: Information Technology About the Role: This position runs computer jobs per schedule and requests in a timely manner and also monitors the computer network system as a whole operating on our 3rd shift. This position is responsible for monitoring and responding to operating and error messages and also prints computer generated output on proper forms, adhering to all quality requirements. This position also assists our retail service center operators as needed. Responsibilities Include: Monitor the system for equipment failure or errors in performance Notify supervisor and maintenance vendor of equipment malfunctions Respond to program error messages by contacting on-call support personnel Retrieve, separate and sort program output as needed, and send data to specified location Answer telephone calls to assist computer users encountering problems Monitor scheduling software and report any anomalies to supervisor or scheduler Assist programmers and support personnel as needed Be aware of operating procedures under abnormal situations, i.e. retail service center down, disaster recovery, etc. Assist with training of Data Center staff and participating in training of other shifts for backup coverage. Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to job Providing information to supervisor, co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person Resetting of Network and Mainframe passwords. Education and Experience: Minimum 1 year operating experience in a large data center Familiar with aspects of eVSE operating system or equivalent Familiar with a variety of data center hardware, including printers, tape and disk drives, servers, routers, communication lines, etc. Familiar with information technology operations software, tape/disk management, FTP active directory and Kaspersky console Familiar with Google, Slack and Trello.
