QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communications skills.
  2. Demonstrated experience with basic computer issues with multiple operating systems.
  3. Demonstration of ethical work habits as the IT Administrator is entrusted with access to confidential information in the nature of their work and is expected to adhere to the highest standards of legal, moral, and ethical behavior.
  4. Demonstrated experience or certification in server administration.
  5. Demonstrated experience or certification in network administration including firewalls, switches, WiFi and phones.
  6. Demonstrated familiarity with school related software and school information systems like PowerSchool, ClassLink, and Google.
REPORTS TO: Director of Educational Technology

LOCATION: Central Office

JOB GOAL: The incumbent, in close cooperation with other IT staff, is responsible for technical work related to the evaluation, selection, implementation, administration, security, and maintenance of a variety of computer systems and networks. The position is responsible for the Brunswick School Department's servers and associated software and services. They are responsible for the wide area and local area network. The incumbent provides hardware and software support for various systems and applications.

REQUIREMENTS and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Perform all functions of Technology Support Specialist
  2. Manage multiple server hardware and software platform configurations.
  3. Administer MDM solution to manage end user devices.
  4. Administer user access to internal systems and supported external systems.
  5. Works to continuously improve the district's protection against cybersecurity threats through a multi-layered approach including prevention, detection, and remediation.
  6. Monitor the district network, internal systems, and end user devices for security vulnerabilities and possible intrusions. Test security measures periodically.
  7. Ensure back-up of all servers, systems and network device configurations. Test back-up and disaster recovery procedures periodically.
  8. Consult with vendors to maintain and troubleshoot existing network components and systems as needed.
  9. Evaluate, establish and provide technical training and assistance for staff.
  10. Maintain the telephone systems, including the establishment of user accounts and lines.
  11. Maintain physical security systems including the cameras, and access control.
  12. Assist the Technology Team to maintain an inventory of hardware, network components, and software, including licensing agreements, service and maintenance contracts and ensure their renewal as required.
  13. Establish, implement and maintain a schedule for hardware, software, and network upgrades.
  14. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues with the district's network and systems.
  15. Manage various educational programs and systems and their integrations with other school systems.
  16. Assist in the preparation of the school department annual Technology Department budget.
  17. Assist in the evaluation, selection and administration of hardware, software, and network for the school department including evaluating computer-related products and pricing.
  18. Daily administers student information system/s (e.g., user accounts, supporting end users, etc.) for ensuring availability of services to authorized users. Updates the State's SIS. Create reports for staff.
  19. Maintains personal professional development in own field of expertise by attending related training seminars and actively participating in professional associations.
  20. Maintains effective relationships with employees, service providers, vendors and others.
  21. Performs other related duties as required.
