Position Summary

The Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of mental health conditions. The role requires a high level of expertise in psychiatric nursing and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Incorporates the six principles of trauma informed care throughout all aspects of their work.
  • Conducts thorough psychiatric assessments of patients to identify mental health issues and formulate treatment plans
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement holistic care plans for patients
  • Prescribes and managing psychotropic medications in accordance with best practices and guidelines
  • Provides individual and group therapy to support patients in managing their mental health conditions
  • Monitors and evaluating patients' progress and making appropriate adjustments to treatment plans as needed
  • Educates patients and their families about mental health disorders, treatment options, and self-care strategies
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Master's degree in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing from an accredited program
  • Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) in the state of Indiana
  • Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
  • Proven experience providing psychiatric care to diverse patient populations
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based treatment modalities for mental health disorders
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records and other healthcare technology
