Job Summary:
Advises staff and physicians to ensure compliance with all American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer Standards. Liaises with physicians and departments with the American College of Surgeons and the American Cancer Society. Develops and maintains a collaborative relationship between departments, physicians and other internal and external customers.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree and three years of related regulatory experience working with physicians, researchers, and clinical personnel.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of Commission on Cancer accreditation process and standards. Information management and interpersonal skills to interpret and communicate information to employees, physicians and senior management. Strong data analysis skills; computer skills, including proficiency at software for word processing, spreadsheet, database, project management and presentation applications. Excellent written and oral communications skills for sharing inter-and intra-departmental information and interacting with senior management and regulatory agency representatives. Proficiency at working on tasks of varying complexity, often simultaneously; capability to prioritize activities (essential). Ability to handle confidential information, work under pressure and prioritize work. The position requires a mature, organized, teammate with good business judgement.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages institutional Cancer Program Accreditation and ensures institutional compliance with and adherence to current version of the Commission on Cancer - Cancer Program Standards.
  • Serves as Institutional Review Board liaison for all regulatory activities within the Cancer Institute.
  • Oversees and manages accreditation process for cancer related disease specific accreditation.
  • Works with disease site programs and clinicians to develop, manage and operationalize, track, and report cancer survivorship care plans for eligible patients.
  • Formulates agenda and schedule for Clinical Cancer Committee meetings in conjunction with the committee chair.
  • Identifies opportunities and implements studies of quality, quality improvement, and compliance with guidelines in conjunction with disease program teams, Quality Administration, clinicians, and other cancer leaders.
  • Acts as the primary regulatory representative at internal meetings as well as at meetings with Commission on Cancer (COC) personnel on monitoring visits.
  • Prepares and organizes cancer program accreditation visits and supporting documents with accrediting agencies, UMMC staff and officials.
  • Ensures institutional or Cancer Institute/Program policies and procedures are in place to meet accreditation requirements.
  • Works with Information Systems staff to develop mechanisms to capture and report data items needed for accreditation.
