Description

The Assembly Technician is responsible for ensuring that assigned machines are mechanically constructed to Douglas Machine Inc. specification and mechanical assembly documentation is maintained and accurate. This individual must also have strong capabilities in the setup and debug of mechanical systems common to the product types produced by the business cell.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
  1. Steward our mission (to enrich lives by providing differentiated packaging automation and services) and values (unwavering integrity, servant's heart, ownership spirit and continuous innovation and improvement).
  2. Responsible for completing the assigned work within the current established guidelines.
  3. Responsible for ensuring that assigned machines are mechanically constructed to Douglas Machine Inc. specifications, mechanical/electrical assembly documentation is maintained and accurate.
  4. Be willing to assist with the training of assembly employees at all levels.
  5. Responsible for completing the mechanical construction phase of the machine assembly.
  6. Communicate respectfully and effectively between departments to accomplish tasks related to project completion.
  7. Maintain an orderly and clean work environment which includes tool box, test materials, carts, shop equipment and surrounding areas.
  8. Be willing to travel to customer facilities when requested.
  9. Comply with all safety policies and procedures.

- Able to troubleshoot mechanical problems and resolve.

- Proficient in the use of personal computers.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

- Associates degree in Mechatronics, Robotics or equivalent education and two years of relevant work experience; or High school diploma/GED and four years of relevant work experience.

- Work experience within the packaging industry preferred.
