Job Description

The Plumber II performs as a leader in the plumbing department and as part of a multi-craft team providing a variety of other maintenance activities for repair, troubleshooting, installation, preventive maintenance and testing of equipment, building and utility systems. Provides assistance with the coordination and execution of required sprinkler, backflow prevention, and medical gas testing and the ability to understand and critique vendor test reports. Assists with the planning and execution of both emergency and planned shutdown, construction, renovation, and capital projects.

Responsibilities

Completes work orders and PM's within appropriate timeframes

Oversees daily interactions with contractors

Sees assignments through to completion including clean up and proper documentation

Supports emergency and planned plumbing shut-down events, construction and capital projects

Identifies problems or quality challenges and develops/implements solutions and improvements

Provides real-time support and consultation during joint commission-related activities and surveys

Readily shares knowledge with co-workers and serves as a resource for the department on plumbing systems

Participates as an active group member of the fire brigade and snow removal crews when assigned

May perform other duties as assigned or requested and job specification can be modified or updated at any time

Qualifications

Required Education: High School Diploma / GED

Preferred Education: Technical Degree in a related field

Required Experience: Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes. Knowledge of applicable NFPA sprinkler and med-gas testing requirements. Excellent communication skills and the ability to function as part of a team. Excellent documentation and organizational skills. Ability to read technical documents and follow verbal instructions. Ability to read and interpret blueprints

Preferred Experience: Previous experience in healthcare-related facilities maintenance and repairs

Required Certifications and Licensures: Journeyman plumber's card recognized by the State of Virginia or able to receive Journeyman credentials within six (6) months of employment in this position. Valid Virginia Driver's License

Preferred Certifications and Licensures: Masters card and med-gas Certification
