Job Summary: PES is in the process of expanding our services to be available 24/7 for the community and are looking for new team members to help us with our goal of providing crisis care 24/7.
PES is a walk-in clinic that provides immediate interventions to persons experiencing a mental health crisis. Clients can meet with a counselor, discuss steps to keep themselves safe, meet with a prescriber for potential medication interventions, and obtain information about other programs that could be helpful for them. Individuals in psychiatric crisis are entitled to a timely evaluation and assessment when presenting to PES. PES provides interventions to residents of Travis County in acute psychiatric crisis or at risk of serious deterioration. PES may continue to provide crisis stabilization support with individuals on a transitional, temporary basis until the crisis is stabilized and/or successful linkage to services and referrals have been made. The goal is to provide needed treatment in the community with a goal of lowering the number of inpatient hospital days, incarcerations, and the accompanying monetary cost to the community.
Serves as a psychiatrist in a community mental health setting providing medical services within scope of license, training, credentialing, and current standards of care and per quality criteria of the employer. Determines and documents evidence of psychopathology, if present, and makes a diagnostic formulation. Assesses client's needs and options to satisfy the requirements of the case. Discusses with the client his/her findings and recommendations. Decides whether initiation of treatment is urgent: medication, labs, other diagnostic tests, hospitalization, social setting, detox program; verifies that written consent for medication of client has been secured, documents therapist's plan and/or completes other referral/medical forms as appropriate. With consent of client, carries out treatment plan, documents in prescribed manner the interactions during sessions and progress of therapy. Discusses his/her opinions and/or findings with therapists and makes recommendations when indicated. Works harmoniously with Unit Manager(s), Associate Medical Director and Chief Medical Officer to define and deliver quality clinical medical care for all clients with the units.
Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

- Doctorate degree.
License:

- Licensed to practice medicine in Texas.
- Current DEA license.
- Board certified in Psychiatry.
- Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Salary: $122.66 an hour.
