The paralegal supports the litigation team working towards the successful resolution of commercial, products liability, intellectual property and employment litigation. The paralegal will assist attorneys in resolving litigation involving multiple business groups at Generac, maintaining litigation files, reviewing and drafting correspondence, releases, and other legal documents for attorney review, and performing legal research or other legal administrative matters as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ Years of paralegal experience, including direct experience in litigation support

  • Associate’s Degree and/or relevant legal education (Paralegal Certificate)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience in an in-house legal department

  • Familiarity with products liability and complex commercial litigation

  • Experience with eDiscovery and Relativity

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Litigation Support

  • Assists with initial fact investigation for potential and pending litigation

  • Manages litigation holds, including preparing and sending preservation notices to appropriate custodians

  • Independently manages discovery for litigation matters working with internal resources and outside counsel assigned to the case

  • Identifies relevant document and data sources and coordinates collection of company information for discovery, subpoena, and regulatory requests

  • Responds to subpoenas and requests for information with minimal supervision

  • Schedules and attends witness interviews and coordinates site inspections with internal and outside experts

  • Maintains case files and dockets deadlines for pending matters

  • Provides support on periodic and special projects

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to present a professional demeanor and maintain a high-level of confidentiality and discretion with respect to sensitive matters

  • Excellent time-management skills, ability to prioritize and manage workload

  • Ability to become a highly skilled user of matter and document management databases as well as Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage shifting priorities.

  • Strong ability to communicate within all levels of the organization in professional manner, both verbally and written.

  • Demonstrated accountability and ability to work on multiple projects

  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency and ability to work independently and with a team

  • Experience supporting non-U.S. legal entities is a plus

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
