Borinquen Medical Centers is located in Miami, FL and is seeking to hire a Full-Time Lead Pharmacy Technician. The Pharmacy Technician will be responsible to resolve problems related to customer prescription inquiries and implements inventory control procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential:

  1. Enter medication orders into patient profiles.
  2. Assist with use of automated dispensing machines (RobotRx, ScriptPro).
  3. Stock medication shelves, return excess stock to inventory.
  4. Prepare and package non-sterile compounded pharmaceuticals.
  5. Correctly distribute controlled substances.
  6. Resolve billing errors.
  7. Assist with management of inventory levels.
  8. Respond to telephone inquiries.
  9. Assist with training of staff.
  10. Complete special projects as assigned by supervisor.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to assist with preparation and delivery of patient
  12. medications.
  13. Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas.
Related Duties
  1. Manufacture, prepare, compound, package and label non-sterile pharmaceuticals.
  2. Perform calculations for the preparation of medication and pharmaceutical products.
  3. Assist in the training and orientation of new pharmacy staff.
  4. Respond to telephone inquiries, referring them to appropriate professional staff.
  5. Perform all technical aspects of the inpatient medication order and outpatient prescription processes, including product measurement, packaging, compounding, reconstitution, labeling, profiling, unit dose cart filling and exchange.
  6. Complete third party payer reimbursement and related forms.
  7. Assist in the acquisition and maintenance of appropriate inventories of pharmaceuticals and other supplies.
  8. Perform pharmacy computer system operations, including order entry, billing, crediting and updating.
  9. Assist in the development, revision and implementation of departmental policies, procedures and programs.
  10. May maintain records related to the use of pharmaceuticals and quality assurance activities for the assigned program.
  11. May maintain liaison with nurses, physicians and other health care professionals regarding medication problems for individual patients.
  12. May participate in the development of and coordinate orientation and training programs for other pharmacy technicians.
  13. May plan and assign the work of other pharmacy technicians.
  14. May prepare bi-weekly payroll for other pharmacy technicians.
  15. May participate in the selection and evaluation of other pharmacy technicians.
REQUIREMENTS
  1. High school diploma or equivalent medical certificate or 2-4 years of experience working in a clinical healthcare setting.
  2. Bi-lingual preferred (Spanish or Creole).
  3. Strong interpersonal skills.
  4. Current certified Pharmacy Technician license.
  5. Minimum two years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician
  6. Ability to interact effectively with consumers, administration and staff.
  7. Organizational skills are a must.
  8. Strong computer skills.
  9. Strong knowledge base of medications.
  10. This position requires extensive standing/walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients.
