JOB SUMMARY: The Urology RN is a licensed registered professional nurse who is a clinical expert who provides ethical, evidence-based, safe compassionate nursing care. Urology focuses on patient safety and the quality of nursing care. The Registered Nurse (RN) is accountable for the coordination of nursing care across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family by focusing on identifying the needs of the patient, education, patient advocacy, coordination of care and evaluating outcomes. The RN will function within the CARTI values, including accountability for planning, implementing, evaluating and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients. The Urology RN will provide support to their assigned physician(s) by communicating with the patient and family, while providing nursing support and services during clinic. The ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice provide a basis for the practice of the RN. The RN possesses excellent communication skills, both written, verbal and non-verbal. This position is a Safety Sensitive Position. The essential functions, physical demands, and mental competencies of this job require the employee maintain the ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner. JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides direct patient care within the ambulatory setting, based on the nursing process and within role/scope of practice.Maintains standards of care relevant to Uro-Oncology.Evaluates unstable or complex patient care situations and facilitates appropriate intervention.Implements appropriate clinical decisions and demonstrates appropriate use of expert peers and/or management as applicable.Responsible for management of patient coordination, triage, and direct patient care.Liaison of communication between nursing staff, providers, and clinic staff.Support patient self-management of disease.Observes, records and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians. 9.Educates patient/family about diagnostic procedures, medications, nutrition and maintenance of health and wellness.Responsible for educational instruction to patients and families with health care needs.Responds to/refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.In providing patient care, document using EMR to maintain and/or develop patient records in compliance with practice standardsMaintains patient confidentiality.
