Job Description:

Description: The LVN Special Services Program Associate provides direct patient care and assists with admissions. This job provides professional clinical assistance to Nurse Assistants, Student Vocational Nurses, Unit Secretaries, and Technicians.

Typical Duties:

  1. Performs complete data collection of patient and other various duties and direct care with regard to age and developmental stage, presenting complaint, and pertinent history.
  2. Delivers nursing care to assigned group of patients including education directed towards identified knowledge deficits, and pain management utilizing the nursing process.
  3. Delivers quality nursing care while minimizing the risk of infection, contamination, harm, or injury.
  4. Participates in the performance improvement process within the Network, Hospital, and department.
  5. Guides, educates, and provides leadership as a preceptor to new LVNs following 6 months of employment.
  6. Conducts specified bedside laboratory tests.
  7. Maintains accurate, detailed reports and records.
  8. Monitors, records and reports symptoms and changes in patients' conditions.
  9. Reviews requests for Outside Services to determine if appropriate related to establish criteria.
  10. Formulates and tracks treatment plans as needed.
  11. Daily reviews on cases needing approval.
  12. Reports all system issues including benefit updates, provider address changes, pricing and Medicare guidelines.
  13. Participates in testing system upgrades or enhancements as assigned.
  14. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Required Education and Experience: Graduated from an accredited school of vocational nursing. Completion of unit specific competency based orientation program within 90 days.
Preferred Education and Experience: 6 plus months of experience in an inpatient setting.
Required Education and Experience: Current licensure to practice vocational nursing in the State of Texas by the Board of Nurse Examiners. Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment. Current JPS recognized CPR certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
