Job Description
/n Job Summary /n Performs respiratory therapy procedures on patients with a variety of needs and physical abnormalities. /n /n Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions /n /n
- Demonstrates clinical competencies necessary to provide respiratory therapy to patients. /n
- Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide respiratory care to the adult/geriatric population. /n
- Demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to provide care to neo-natal/pediatric patients. /n
- Collects and evaluates pertinent clinical information by inspection, auscultation, and patient review. Review's patient's medical record, history, blood gas values, and other laboratory data. /n
- Reviews x-ray and radiology reports. /n
- Discusses patient care with physicians and makes recommendations as indicated. /n
- Explains and monitors patients response to therapy. /n
- Performs respiratory therapy procedures as appropriate to patient's condition in a timely manner and in accordance with conventional practices and procedures. /n
- Completes documentation for respiratory procedures. /n
- Communicates pertinent patient information to appropriate members of the health care team. /n
- Checks and inspects equipment for proper function, operation, and cleanliness. Troubleshoots blood gas instrumentation and runs quality control as indicated. Adjusts equipment as necessary or reports malfunctioning equipment as appropriate. /n
- Participates in the clinical instruction of allied health students. /n
- Performs other duties as assigned. /n /n Qualifications /n Education /n /n
- Required/n /n
- Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapist Program /n /n
- Preferred/n /n
- Bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy /n /n /n
Experience:
/n /n
- N/A /n /n Certification/Licensure: /n /n
- Required/n /n
- Respiratory Care Practitioner license from the State of Texas /n
- Registered Respiratory Therapist License /n
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification /n /n
- Required within thirty (30) days of start date /n /n /n /n
