LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Senior Linux Systems Engineer in Tempe, AZ to join a highly technical infrastructure team supporting complex and mission-critical business systems. This individual will play a key role in designing, maintaining, automating, and optimizing enterprise Linux environments while contributing to modernization and cloud initiatives.

Location:
Primarily Remote; Candidates will report on-site in Tempe, AZ one to two times per month Compensation: $100,000
- $125,000 (flexible for candidates with extensive experience)

Job Description
- Design, implement, maintain, and enhance Linux-based infrastructure environments.
- Administer and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Ubuntu, and other Linux distributions.
- Develop and maintain automation and scripting solutions using Python, Bash, GitLab, and related technologies.
- Troubleshoot complex system, application, networking, and infrastructure issues.
- Support highly available environments with a focus on stability, reliability, and performance.
- Monitor system health, capacity, and operational performance.
- Assist with infrastructure modernization and cloud migration initiatives.
- Implement security best practices, vulnerability remediation, and platform hardening.
- Support virtualization technologies and enterprise storage environments.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and operational standards.
- Participate in technical planning, architecture discussions, and infrastructure improvements.
- Serve as an escalation point for advanced Linux administration and engineering challenges.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Linux Systems Administration or Linux Engineering experience preferred.
- Strong experience supporting enterprise Linux environments, including RHEL and Ubuntu.
- Demonstrated experience writing automation and scripting solutions using Bash and/or Python.
- Experience managing and troubleshooting production infrastructure environments.
- Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, services, networking, and performance tuning.
- Experience with GitLab or similar source control and automation platforms.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and network troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience integrating Linux systems with Windows Active Directory environments is helpful.
- Exposure to VMware, KVM, or other virtualization technologies is helpful.
- Experience supporting SAN, NAS, NFS, SMB/CIFS, or other enterprise storage solutions.
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or Chef is helpful.
- Experience supporting cloud environments including AWS or Azure is helpful.
