American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Oncology Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Bismarck, North Dakota. Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Oncology Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Oncology night shift position requiring 2 years of recent acute care experience and an active ND or compact license. Responsibilities Work in an acute care hospital setting on the Med/Surg Oncology unit Unit has 31 beds and cares for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses such as strokes, HTN, COPD, CHF, A-fib, chest pain, MI post-ICU, cellulitis, AMS/behavioral, some Tele, surgical overflow, and oncology Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts and requirement to work every other weekend Floating required to other Med/Surg units and occasional ER holds, with priority to float travelers first Uses Epic EMR system No on-call responsibilities Unit manages titratable drips and uses BiPAP and trach equipment for stable patients Chemo administration is handled by core staff only Charge nurse present on each shift with no patient assignment unless needed Nurse aides/patient care techs assist with a 1:8 ratio Monitor techs read strips; RNs do not interpret telemetry strips No specific scrub color required Team-oriented, supportive work environment with strong unit culture Holiday coverage required as needed RTO must be provided upfront and is limited to 7 days per 13-week contract; additional RTO not approved after submission Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Not eligible if employed in any capacity by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year First-time travelers are welcome to apply Requirements Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience in an acute care environment Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Experience titrating drips, including Lasix and Heparin Driver's license required for consideration Two professional references: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-648568.
