A great UHY client is seeking a Controller to join their team. As a Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. You will play a key role in financial planning, budgeting, and reporting, as well as providing strategic financial analysis to support decision-making.

The Controller role is a hybrid position. This is a client direct hire position.

Controller Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the accounting department, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.
  • Perform double entry bookkeeping and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports for management.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations (IFRS).
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide financial guidance and support for business initiatives.
  • Conduct account reconciliation and analysis for various accounts including Prepaid Expenses, Deposits, Accrued Expenses, Investments, Capital Leases, Members Equity, and Inter-company balances.
  • Coordinate the monthly book close process to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Supervise Accounts Receivable (A/R), credit, and collections processes.
  • Manage banking activities, including deposits, cash management, and reconciliation.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual financial audit.
  • Assist in compiling information for the Companys annual tax returns.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures with a focus on internal controls.
  • Lead special projects as required to support organizational objectives.
  • Manage the existing accounting team and oversee department expansion as needed, including managing an offshore team effectively.
  • Preparation and submission of weekly borrowing base reports.
  • Daily cash management.
  • Ensure weekly invoicing is completed timely.
  • Managing the accounts receivable collection process including working with 3rd party collections agencies.
  • Managing offshore teams effectively.

Controller Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA designation preferred)
  • Proven experience as a Controller or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficient in general ledger accounting and reconciliation
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software
  • Experience with QuickBooks is essential (QuickBooks Online experience preferred).
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
