Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Director of Finance at Marketplace Homes. The Director of Finance will be responsible for overseeing financial planning, financial statements, financial reporting, and utilizing analytical skills to provide insights and recommendations. This role is primarily located in Plymouth, MI, with flexibility for some remote work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support business growth and profitability
  • Manage a small team of employees responsible for financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation.
  • Govern accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Enforce staff compliance with company policies and state and federal laws
  • Extensive experience with trust accounting best practices and regulations
  • Participate as an active member in overseeing corporate strategy for 70+ employees
  • Create and present financial and tax strategy recommendations to CEO
  • Oversee cash flow, cash management, working capital, and company audits
  • Prepare financial statements and reports
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making
  • Ensure legal compliance on all financial functions
  • Manage relationships with banks and other financial vendors

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in accounting, preparing complex financial statements, and finance
  • 5+ years working specifically with the real estate, property management, or brokerage industries
  • Strong background in financial planning, financial statements, and financial reporting
  • Advanced analytical skills and ability to provide data-driven insights
  • Proficiency in finance principles and practices
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Experience in the real estate or property management industries
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) are preferred

The ideal Finance Manager will have excellent analytical, strategic planning, operational, managerial, and communication skills. Candidates with a combination of industry and public accounting knowledge are preferred.
