The Need
For 25 years, IJM has pioneered the work to protect vulnerable people from violence. 9 out of 9 times in the last decade, IJM's Justice System Strengthening Projects have reduced slavery and violence between 50 and 85% for very large populations of people in poverty. As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people from violence by 2030, we are seeking an Analyst, Finance Data & Systems.
This unique position primarily requires a strong background in financial accounting systems, data visualization and other current or emerging technologies used to support a growing global accounting and assurance team. The position also requires hands-on experience working on a team of accounting and finance professionals responsible for day-to-day accounting and reporting.
This position is hybrid (onsite Tuesdays & Thursdays) if located in the Washington, DC area or remote for non-local candidates. It reports to the Sr. Analyst, Global Finance Data and is only available for candidates with the right to work in the US.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
- Serve as co-leader of M-Files ECM/DMS system rollout to field offices: Work with the Global Reporting and Consolidation Director to manage the use of M-Files ECM/DMS system at HQ. Provide leadership to implement M-Files for all IJM field offices. Serve as lead trainer and provide Tier 1 software support.
- Data Analysis: Help set standards for the department's Data Quality Initiative to ensure consistent use of worktag combinations for all transactions in Workday Finance. Use tools like Tableau and Excel to maintain data quality to facilitate analysis and reporting. Work with GFIN team to identify and correct issues. Provide team members with additional training for ongoing transaction processing.
- Data Quality: Ensure that data between the various finance systems (Adaptive, QuickBooks, Salesforce and Workday) are being done regularly and ensuring there are no issues with data transfers between systems. Ensure proper levels of validation posting rules that make sense for Global postings into WD, while ensuring a quality level of data into the system.
- Global ERP Usage: Serve as implementation and testing resource during IJM's Workday ERP system global rollout for continued stabilization and steady-state operations, along with WD new release testing support as needed. Become main point of contact for global finance Subject Matter Experts (SME) to help them in how to troubleshoot and navigate the system for efficiencies and to become true SMEs for their areas. Be a key point of contact and liaison between the various global support departments and GFIN teams in supporting the use of the Workday ERP system. Be a liaison between the Global Workday technical teams, the Salesforce data team, and the data Adaptive data teams to ensure good integration and communication between the systems. Support the new FDM worktag process, including regular data audit support with the Global SMEs.
- Support systematic processes to maintain existing worktags and review requests for additions to Worktags in Workday: Work with the Financial Planning team and IJM staff to review and maintain active and inactive worktags used in Workday expense accounting and reporting. Ensure that policies and procedures related to adding new worktags are documented and understood by all stakeholders.
- Accounting Standards Compliance: Work with GFIN team to continuously update IJM accounting systems and financial statements to conform with all new GAAP and IFRS pronouncements. Develop systems to monitor compliance with all accounting policies to reduce risk to the organization and help maintain donor confidence in IJM's ability to manage its financial resources.
- Monthly and Year-end Close: Expedite monthly and year-end close process by continually refining methods to automate and find consistency in all Workday Finance transactions. Assist GFIN team to quickly resolve data questions that could hinder timely financial closing each month and at year-end.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with global team members to continuously work on improving existing processes and the use of technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Participate in IJM's community of spiritual formation.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Management Information Systems;
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience;
- Experience with Workday Financials preferred;
- Experience with data visualization in general;
- Project management skills and ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities;
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel in particular and Office Suite in general;
- Proven ability to understand and apply US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles;
- Professional written and oral communication skills; and
- Ability to quickly learn and use different software like ERP systems, CRM systems, Business Intelligence (BI) Systems and Enterprise Content Management Systems.

*What is a statement of faith?
A statement of faith should describe your Christian faith and how you see it as relevant to your involvement with IJM.
