Mid Level Substation Design Engineer Location: **San Antonio** State/Territory: **Texas** Department: **Power Delivery Ft Worth Substation Dept** **Description** **Mid Level Substation Design Engineer** **Job Summary** POWER Engineers is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer in the San Antonio, TX area to work as a Substation Design Engineer in the Power Delivery Substation Department of our San Antonio, TX office. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office). **Roles and Responsibilities** + Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations including, but not limited to: + One-line diagrams + Schematics + Wiring diagrams + SCADA + Communications + Station physical layouts + Sections/Elevations + Cable and conduit plans and details + Ground grid design and details + Foundation plans and details + Structural plans and details + Control enclosure design and details + Lightning protection plans + Yard lighting plans + Construction cost estimates and contracts + Bill of Materials + Project scheduling and coordination + Site visits + Support QA/QC for deliverables to clients. + Occasional travel will be required. **Required Education/Experience** + Ability to function as a Mid Level Substation Design Engineer with the San Antonio location of our Substation Business Unit. + BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree, from an accredited university preferably with a power option. + Experience in 15kV through 500kV substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards. + Experience in managing small project teams. + Experience filling the role of substation design engineer for several projects occurring concurrently. + Engineer in Training (EIT) registration. + The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel. + Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship. **Desired Education/Experience** + Five (5) or more years experience in utility substation design as outlined above. + Professional Engineering license (PE) strongly preferred, or ability to sit for the exam within 6 months. + Managerial and leadership skills a plus.
