Job Description

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversees all aspects of the purchasing function, including vendor selection, pricing, and terms
  • Works closely with staff on evaluating new suppliers, vendors or sub-contractors
  • Continual collaboration with internal stakeholders regarding supply levels and needs
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance in development/maintenance of supplier quality program
  • Compiles, analyzes and tracks metrics relating to cost savings, price structures as well as quality and delivery performance of suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Supervise, evaluate and coach direct reports
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers
  • Retain detailed records on procurement activity, materials quantity, specifications etc.
  • Assist in forecasting to plan future orders
  • Ensuring successful delivery of materials
  • Continual communication with manufacturing and development personnel regarding supply levels
  • Resolves conflicts concerning materials or services at the department and vendor levels
  • Works closely with staff on evaluating new suppliers, vendors or sub-contractors
  • Solicits RFQ's annually to ensure most competitive costs are achieved and sets up annual contracts
  • Assists internal customers in the evaluation of goods and services, as needed
Qualifications

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in business management, logistics, finance, or related field

Work Experience:
  • 5+ years' purchasing experience within manufacturing or other industrial environment, pharmaceutical manufacturing strongly preferred
  • 3+ years' working in leadership capacity
Functional or Technical Skills:
  • High level of proficiency working within supply chain and inventory management systems
  • Understanding of forecasting and budgeting
  • Working knowledge of MRP systems, preferably SAP
  • Proficiency operating Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Capacity to negotiate, analyze data, and function independently
