The primary function of the Coating Turret Operator is the safe day-to-day support of the coating line.

Primary Duties

  • May be assigned other duties
  • Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. SKNA employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.
  • Daily inspection of all belts and hoses.
  • Cleanliness of equipment and plant floor.
  • Daily inventory of consumables required at the rewind.
  • The Rewind Turret Operator shall note and bring to the attention of the Machine Operator any noise or smell which is out of place in coating facility. ( I.e. The smell of smoke, the sound of a bearing or gears grinding, etc.)
  • Cutting cores to proper length as dictated by the run schedule or the Machine Operator.
  • Shafting up cores at the rewind end of the coating line and applying splicing tape to the core. Splicing tape gap between wraps should be approximately 1.5"2" unless otherwise stated by the Machine Operator or Production Manager.
  • Ensuring splicing tape backing is removed 3 minutes prior to rotating the winder for splicing.
  • Preparation of rolls for finishing.
  • Enter roll information into the computer correctly and accurately.
  • Roll label printing.
  • Band and label rolls, label directional arrow should point in the roll unwind direction.
  • Stamp the correct roll number on the end of each roll.
  • Stamp the correct unwind direction on the end of each roll.
  • Assist as required during line start-up and web breaks.
  • Assist as required during end of run shutdown.
  • Inform Machine operator of any problems associated with the line or production difficulties encountered and note such problems on the daily log sheet.
  • The Rewind Turret Operator shall maintain the area from the first chill roll section to the Rewinder and all surrounding areas of this section of the line. This is to include but not limited to the following.
Job Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of warehouse or production experience is desired.
  • Must have analytical skills and desire to learn new equipment and applications
