This is a Full-Time, hourly position located at YMCA Camp Casey on Whidbey Island.

Position Summary:

Provides housekeeping services to meet the needs of camp user groups. Performs work of a semi-skilled nature in the repair and remodeling of facilities and equipment. Supervise temporary and student assistants. Maintain assigned areas, preform day-to day facility cleaning and upkeep including preventative maintenance and repair, asset management and proactively monitor and report facility issues and concerns, and other related responsibilities.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service to all users of YMCA Camp Casey.
  • Completes all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintains upkeep of assigned area and assist in coordination of facility maintenance, including planning and developing preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Cleans and sanitizes, in accordance with established practices/procedures, the following: restrooms and shower rooms; sleeping rooms; meeting rooms; mess halls; kitchens; gymnasium; office and other designated areas as assigned.
  • Sets up tables, chairs and equipment as required to accommodate guests' needs.
  • Trains, equips, and supervises temporary and student assistants.
  • Performs independent semi-skilled routine maintenance.
  • Serves on rotating on-call maintenance schedule as needed.
  • Cares for and maintains inventory of: Linens; A.V. and sport equipment; tables and chairs used for set-ups.
  • Works evenings and weekends as needed. Works overtime as required.
  • All Casey facilities personnel are designated as "essential staff" and are subject to working during times that the conference center closes due to inclement weather or emergency.
  • Work effectively with all outside contractors and vendors.
  • Able to work effectively with from a variety of different maintenance activities including, but not limited to managed property assets, corrective and preventative building repairs.
  • Ability to understand the safe use and handling of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and continue to compile new acquired MSDS information for its safe operation.
  • Takes primary responsibility for preventive maintenance and minor repairs of equipment as assigned.
  • Assist with budget supporting preventative and annual maintenance plans and monitor expenditures.
  • Participate in the YMCA's Campaigns to support program development.
  • Advise supervisor on potential maintenance issues and projects as requested.
  • Ensure that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are well maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.
  • Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
  • Report and track maintenance requests/work orders.
  • Ensure YMCA buildings and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
  • Lead and promote efforts to ensure that YMCA services & programs are welcoming and inclusive to all individual and that staff and volunteers are reflective of the community's diversity.
  • Develop and promote a learning organization culture among staff.
  • Completion of YMCA specific training/certifications as directed.
  • Works to support other team members on special projects at Camp Casey.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school degree or GED.
  • Experience: Two years general maintenance of a multiple building campus. Two years customer service. Two years Custodial.
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid WA State driver's license. First Aid and CPR, CAP and others as determined by position/role (YMCA certifications completed within first 30 days of employment).
Other Considerations: Excellent customer service skills. General knowledge of custodial chemicals, equipment, techniques, standards and terminology. General knowledge of building maintenance tools, equipment, techniques, standards and terminology. Able to pass a fit test for N95 respirator.

Software And Equipment Used: General hand and power tools, carpet and hard floor maintenance equipment, service truck.

Physical Demands:
  • Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties
  • Able to lift/carry 50 pounds
  • Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 32 feet
  • Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms
  • Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed
  • Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust
  • Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi- to full-reaching overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back
