Unit Description

The Staff Nurse Specialist works closely as part of our multi-disciplinary team including Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapists and Speech Language Pathologists to provide comprehensive and coordinated patient care services. They provide assessment of current problems and education to patients and families regarding their diagnosis, care recommendations and community resources. Our clinic sees patients referred following neurologic events such as stroke, spinal cord injury, and traumatic brain injury as well as those referred for fall prevention and lymphedema management. The Staff Nurse Specialist is an experienced nurse who provides education to patients/families and assists with coordinating care with other disciplines. They demonstrate leadership skills through providing educational programs for the community, and involvement in UVMMC committees and/or professional organization.
  • Certified Rehab Registered Nurse (CRRN) specialty certification preferred.
  • Two years relevant RN experience.
Requirements:
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the State of Vermont required.
  • The University of Vermont Health Network is moving toward an all Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) workforce. All external candidates hired into, or current employees promoted to, a RN position will be required to obtain their BSN as outlined in the terms of their offer letter.
  • Appropriate experience in specific clinical area.Varies by unit.
