Utility Global is looking to hire an experienced Senior Process Controls Engineer to play a key role in a dynamic, growing technology company. This position will work with, and in some instances lead multi-disciplinary internal and external teams to develop Utility Global’s eXero technology through the entire project lifecycle, commencing with conceptual design and culminating in beneficial operation. This role will be based in our Houston office located in the Energy Corridor.

Responsibilities: Implement and commission control strategies to enhance process efficiency and reliability. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with other plant systems. Write and optimize control logic for PLCs and DCS platforms. Troubleshoot and debug control system issues to ensure optimal performance. Analyze and evaluate existing control systems to identify opportunities for improvement. Implement advanced control strategies to optimize process variables and enhance overall plant performance. Collaborate with process engineers to fine-tune control algorithms for maximum efficiency. Create detailed technical documentation for control systems, including functional specifications and user manuals. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements related to process control. Provide training operations and maintenance teams on control system functionality and troubleshooting. Offer technical support to resolve control system issues and minimize downtime. Ensure that control systems comply with relevant safety standards and regulations. Participate in safety reviews and audits to identify and address potential risks. Implement safety measures within control systems to enhance overall plant safety. Support commissioning and start-up activities for new facilities. Provide technical consulting and performance analysis for projects. Troubleshoot and recommend cost effective solutions to problems arising during design, construction, start-up, and ongoing operation of facilities. Mentor junior process engineers when required.

Candidate Profile:

Education Required : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (Chemical Engineering Degree preferred) Experience Required : 10 – 15 years in a process-related industry, with a minimum of 5 years as a Process Controls Engineer with a focus on DCS, PLC, safety systems, and control logic. In-depth knowledge of industrial automation and control systems. Proficiency in programming languages such as ladder logic, Function Block Diagrams (FBD), or Structured Text. Experience with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) design and implementation. Demonstrated project management and leadership skills. Sound technical judgement with a proven capacity to work independently on multiple parallel projects. Experience with HMI (Human-Machine Interface) design and implementation. Desirable Skills/Training/Certifications Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulations. Experience in selecting and configuring instrumentation for monitoring and controlling industrial processes. Knowledge of cybersecurity principles in control systems. Expertise in process engineering simulation software e.g. Aspen Plus, Hysys, Unisim, ProMax, VMG, etc. Proven experience in development and optimization of process designs. Detailed knowledge of one or more of the following technologies will be a significant advantage: Syngas generation (Steam Methane Reformers, Auto Thermal Reformers, Partial Oxidation Reactors), Air Separation Technology, Ammonia, Methanol, Gas to Liquid, Electrolysis, PSA Technology, Amine Systems, Gasification, CO2 capture/purification.) Experience working in start-up, commissioning, troubleshooting, or operation of a chemical processing facility. Personal/Professional Attributes: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
