CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER The Stark Metropolitan Housing Authority (SMHA) is seeking a highly qualified Chief Financial Officer for the overall management of financial operations of its portfolio of 2382 owned housing units, 1650 housing choice vouchers and three component properties that total 161 units. The agency operates with an annual budget of $32.2 million and is financially strong. SMHA and its nonprofit instrumentality are governed by a highly supportive five-member Board and staffed with 126 employees. SMHA has just been awarded a $500,000 Choice Neighborhood Initiatives Planning Grant. SMHA is a HUD standard performer. SMHA is based in Canton, Ohio, which is a community of 70,872 approximately 60 miles south of Cleveland. It is the largest municipality in the metropolitan area that has a population of 401,574. Canton is the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the William McKinley Presidential Library and Museum. The community is blessed with a high quality of urban life and a low cost of living. Stark County has many fine school systems and higher education institutions as well as excellent health care facilities. A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required and a Master’s Degree in such fields is preferred. Candidates should have at least five (5) years of work experience in accounting and financial reporting to HUD. Any combination of experience and education that would be likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities may still be considered by SMHA. The selected candidate must be willing to relocate to Stark County. Candidates will be required to provide academic credentials and work history. The consultant will complete criminal and credit history background checks. Compensation for the position is negotiable, depending on the qualifications and experience of the chosen candidate. The general salary range is $120,000 to $150,000. SMHA is an equal opportunity employer.
