Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty supporting the Planning and Development Services division in the areas of land use planning and zoning; minor land divisions; and researching zoning questions, issues, and property usage inquiries.

Reviews zoning applications to assure completeness and compliance with all zoning requirements. Prepares narrative staff reports describing rezoning applications, special use permits, variances, tentative and final plats, and zoning change requests for consideration by the Board of Adjustment, Planning and Zoning Commission, and the Board of Supervisors. Reviews and processes minor land division applications. Prepares maps, charts, tables, public notices and property owner notifications. Investigates violations of planning regulations and ordinances, including site visits. Provides information to the public regarding zoning and development regulations and Navajo County Ordinances. Prepares and assists in presentations at public meetings, occasionally outside normal business hours. Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers. Maintains organized and accurate files within County firmware, hard copy files and records. Researches and compiles information on a variety of planning issues; interprets and explains zoning ordinance regulations to the public. Performs administrative tasks in support of planning and development services operations, including data entry, file management, copying and answering telephone. Knowledge of various County Zoning Codes and Arizona Revised Statutes. Knowledge of the principles and practices of planning, zoning and land usage. Knowledge of Navajo County’s Minor Land Division Ordinance Knowledge of various technology tools used in support of planning operations including Adobe software, PowerPoint, GIS applications, and work order/asset management /permit tracking software. Knowledge of site plan review Skill in working productively with other Public Works divisions and other County departments. Skill in working accurately on several projects or issues simultaneously. Skill in working independently or in a team environment as needed. Skill in solving problems and challenges of moderate difficulty on behalf of the development community, residents and property owners doing business with the County. Skill in communicating effectively orally and in writing.

A minimum of two years of experience working in Planning & Zoning, OR Bachelor's Degree in Geography, Urban or Regional Planning, OR an equivalent combination of education, training or experience that provides the knowledge and ability to perform the tasks as described, AND a valid Arizona Driver License. #J-18808-Ljbffr
