Judson Center is a premier non-profit human service agency which provides compassionate and comprehensive services to children and families in need in SE Michigan/ Metro Detroit. We provide services to over 8,000 consumers annually in four Centers of Excellence: Autism, Behavioral & Mental Health, Adoption and Foster Care and Vocational Disability Services. We operate out of five regional offices in SE Michigan.

Program Summary:

The Building Community Partners (BCP) program is designed to provide supportive services to clients/families who are either current or prospective resource parents (foster parents, fictive kin or relative placement), birth families, youth and children who are involved in the child welfare system.

Job Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Building Community Partnerships Supervisor is to locate existing and develop new support services, activities, and resources that meet the specific needs of the client/families served. Including, but not limited to: After school programs; extracurricular activities in conjunction with local schools; Fatherhood involvement activities, Grandparent raising grandchildren support, childrens workshops, recreational activities for youth and children involved in the child welfare system; youth support groups; and, mentoring and tutorial support services.

Hire, train and monitor Parent Partner activities.
Identifies, recruits, and retains community stakeholders to become collaborative members for the BCP.
Recruits and trains community representatives for the purpose of attending Family Team Meetings at the request of DHS.
Conducts community forums, Child Abuse Prevention Training's, Building Community Partnership (BCP) meetings and focus groups to promote awareness of BCP.
Collaborates with DHS to provide training and mentoring services to potential and existing resource parents.
Facilitates support groups for both birth parents and foster parents monthly.
Manages program specific assistance funds.
Submits monthly and other reports as required.

Job Qualifications:

A bachelor degree in the human services area is required, social work preferred.
Experience working with children and families with multiple problems and an overall ability to relate to and engage with families at risk and in crisis.
An understanding of current and appropriate parenting skills and life skills.
Knowledge of child welfare policies and programs, family therapy theories, treatment philosophies, and strategies of home based services.
A valid Michigan drivers license, with appropriate insurance and ability to travel as needed.

Non-traditional work hours in the office, community and family homes.
Includes driving own vehicle, own insurance and mileage reimbursement
