We're working with a better-for-you meat processor looking to identify a driven QA Director to join their SQF facility in Northern California. My client is primarily retail but is expanding into foodservice as they continue to grow.

The QA Director acts as the liaison between production, quality and regulatory. This person supports the facility and QA Director in ensuring safe and quality products that adhere to the SOPs and GMPs in place. The QA Director is also responsible for leading audits. The successful candidate will manage a small team and motivate them to achieve new levels of safety and product quality.

Core Responsibilities:

Food Safety and SQF Program Management • Establish, implement, and direct quality control and food safety efforts to ensure compliance with SOPs and GMPs • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions when food safety deviations occur. • Review food safety and quality records for program compliance, identify gaps, and communicate findings to management. • Develop, implement, and maintain SQF safety and quality standards certification.

Auditing and Compliance • Oversee the Food Safety and Quality Audits including USDA and an up-coming SQF audits. • Document non-conformances. • Assist with investigation, follow-up and logging of customer complaints and foreign material findings. • Create monthly reports including reject reports, product review, foreign material reporting. • Serve as the main liaison with the USDA for day-to-day communication, NRs, MOIs, FSA, and Weekly Meetings.

Lead and Support the QA Team • This person will lead quality meetings with plant management and maintain documentation. • Lead the crisis management team and any recalls. • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to safety rules while at work. • Provide support and training at all groups and levels to ensure compliance with SQF programs. • Work closely with the operations team to modify, implement and review all existing and new procedures in accordance with SQF and company requirements.

Required Qualifications: 1. Food manufacturing background 2. Minimum of 6 years of leadership experience. 3. Strong interpersonal skills, including professional verbal and written communication, and the ability to communicate, make decisions, and lead teams in stressful situations. 4. HACCP and SQF training 5. Competency in Microsoft Office Suite; emphasis on Word, Excel, SharePoint. Comfort learning and using new software/applications.

Preferred Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field. 2. Experience as an SQF Practitioner 3. USDA or prior Meat Experience

Target salary for this position is 160K plus bonus. #J-18808-Ljbffr
