Donor Relations Officer

for our
client, an inspirational social services organization in Chicago,
Illinois Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Donor
Relations, this full-time,

hybrid

role will be a
results-oriented leader aspiring to engage funding partners to
experience the mission firsthand and to ultimately make
transformational giving decisions.

GENERAL INFORMATION

This nonprofit is a Christian, after-school program that
emphasizes academic excellence while nurturing the whole child
mind, body and soul. Located in Chicagos most under-resourced
neighborhoods. While loving and nurturing, the culture of the
organization has a strong results-orientation, a very structured
program and a growth mindset that believes with hard work everyone
can continue to learn and grow.

Position Summary:

The Donor Relations Officer will play a pivotal and
indispensable role in skillfully cultivating and nurturing robust
relationships with both individual and institutional donors,
tirelessly securing their unwavering engagement and steadfast
support. This individual will be instrumental in mobilizing
leadership and stakeholders, passionately uniting them to champion
mission objectives and ensuring the necessary funding to drive
impactful work forward.

Key Responsibilities:

Experience as a Donor Relations Officer or similar role of a
not-for-profit or for-profit organization for at least three
years.

Proven track record in identifying, cultivating, soliciting,
and stewarding major donors and other mission alignment
partners.

A seasoned and experienced leader in managing multiple funding
strategies.

Expertise with stewarding donor relationships at the highest
level leading to transformational giving decisions.

Steward and nurture a portfolio of funding partners as their
ambassador to mission, always seeking to minister to their
passions, interests and needs.

Portray purpose driven leadership to set moderately difficult
goals and take on challenging assignments.

Successfully spearheaded the creation of a robust major donor
portfolio pipeline resulting in an annual fundraising achievement
of consistently raising $1 million+.

Possess excellent communication skills, spoken and
written.

Create strategies and solutions related to the Annual Strategic
Funding Plan designed to achieve growth commensurate with mission
growth.

Personal Characteristics

A personal and saving relationship with Jesus Christ.

A member and active participant in a Bible-believing
church.

Demonstrated relationship skills that foster authenticity,
trust, empathy, and teamwork and a common focus on excellence in
all areas; able to integrate well with the existing Fund
Development team, Broader Departments in the organization, and
Donors while working to develop a collaborative and accountable
work environment.

Has strong emotional intelligence, including exceptional

and has the ability to sense the same in others and modify his or
her approach to develop a cooperative and energized spirit.

solicitation.

including raising $1 million or more annually.

when needed; even-tempered and able to exhort a spirit of dignity

GOALS & EXPECTATIONS SUMMARY:

The new Donor Relations Officer(DRO) will initially seek to
establish credibility as a strong and strategic servant leader
building onto the existing fundraising infrastructure and
resources. Specific goals and objectives will be established in
collaboration with the Senior Vice President of Donor Relations,
and it is anticipated they will reflect the following overarching
themes:

Spiritual Leadership : Lead a personal and

Annual Operational Plan : Support all aspects of
organizational efforts to achieve the annual operational goals and
objectives. Secure the funding and resources needed to execute the
annual operational plans.

Thought Leadership : Assist the Chief Development
Officer and Senior Vice President of Donor Relations with thoughts
and ideas to strengthenthemission and forge new and
productive and relationships with community partners.

Financial Stewardship : Help to responsibly
manage all financial resources entrusted to organization, operating
within annual budgets, and ensuring resources are invested
wisely.

Donor Relationships : Establish and deepen
relationships between all donors and the mission. Personally manage
a portfolio of key funding partners, seeking to discover their
unique connection to the mission and ministering to their passions
and interests.

Department Culture : Continue to develop a
culture among the Fund Development Team that reflects core values
of the organization. Display strong work ethic, integrity and
humility behaviors within the Fund Development Team and the broader
organization.
