Job DescriptionManufacturing EngineerShelby North Carolina$90-$120k, plus bonus and relocationJOB SUMMARY:Plan, direct and coordinate manufacturing processes in a manufacturingplant.ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:- Develop best practices, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methodsfor assembly, fabrication and cutting departments. Train employeesin these methods.- Develop weld and assembly jigs and fixturing.- Develop and maintain multi-level bill of materials; communicatechanges using Manufacturing Change Order Process.- Complete time studies for continuous improvement.- Develop schedules for assembly, fabrication and cutting departments.- Lead Kaizen events in various manufacturing areas.- Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related coststo provideinformation for management decisions. Research and develop projectcost.- Support estimating department with daily requests.- Write capital expenditure requests and justification.- Support Engineering Order process meetings and implementationthrough Manufacturing Change Order Process.- Update or write manufacturing work instructions for existing or newassemblies and fabrication using processes in place. Analyze andplan work force utilization, space requirements and workflow. Designlayout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.- Confer with planning and design staff concerning product design andtooling toensure efficient production methods.- Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrangefor purchase ofequipment, materials, or parts and evaluate products according tospecifications- and quality standards. Support production supply requirements(supplies, tools, tool repair, etc.).- Confer with management, engineering and other staff regardingmanufacturingcapabilities, production schedules and other considerations tofacilitate productionprocesses.- Work closely with Production Manager and supervisors to support thegoals of the company.- Will apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturingrequirements andpotential.COMPETENCIES:- Analytical - synthesizes complex or diverse information; collectsand researches data.- Project Management - develops and coordinates project plans;communicates changes and progress; completes projects on time andbudget; manages project team activities.- Teamwork - Ability to build morale and group commitments to meetgoals and objectives; supports everyone's efforts to succeed.- Change Management - Develops workable implementation plans; monitorstransitions and evaluates results.QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job satisfactorily, an individual must be able toperform each essential performance requirement satisfactorily. Ability tospeak effectively before groups of customers or employees oforganization.- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units ofmeasure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw andinterpret bar graphs.- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry outinstructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability todeal with problems involving several concrete variables instandardized situations.- Ability to gain the trust of manufacturing personnel to be able tocommunicate/support their daily requirements.- Basic data entry skills, required; Microsoft Office; drafting skills(preferably computer aided).- Proven mechanical abilities, knowledge of various electrical andmechanical processes, assembly techniques and hand tool use.WORK ENVIRONMENT:The work environment characteristics described here are representativeof those an employee encounters while performing the essential functionsof this job.
