Civil Estimator

Demolition and construction services company looking for a Civil Estimator. They provide structural and interior demolition services and site preparation for large buildings.

This role requires reviewing plans, budgets, oversees and documents all aspects of the estimating and bid process. They will work closely with senior management to make sure that the estimate and bid align with company policies, processes, procedures, protocol and budget. Estimators might work independently or in a group setting.

Ideal candidates would be those who have a thorough knowledge related to earthwork, underground utilities, demolition and estimating. Additionally, a solid understanding of the means/methods of excavation and demolition will ensure the highest degree of success in this role.

Job

Duties:

Evaluate project work scopes.

Review

plans/specifications.

Review proposal specification.

Negotiate and secure contracts.

Propose options and cost management techniques throughout the project.

Compare Estimated and Actual Costs and Schedules.

Creating budgets and strong mathematical skills.

Monitor daily job costs/receivables.

Manage contract submittals and change orders.

Maintain positive customer relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.

Communicate and build relationships with project managers to provide estimating, change orders, credits, procuring materials, etc.

Problem Solving Skills: Good judgement, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with computers, familiarity with

demolition/construction

management software packages.

Ability to work under minimal supervision.

Strong Organizational Skills and Aptitude.

Evaluate design options and recommend alternative solutions or approaches as needed.

Occasional Travel is required and therefore must have a valid drivers license and no infractions.

Responsibilities:

Evaluate site access and conditions and propose production levels for proposals.

Make site visits as needed to confirm scope of work.

Responsible for all aspects of estimating including pre-demolition, hard bids, negotiated bids, budgets, general conditions, value engineering, and subcontractor bidding.

Review project drawings and specifications to determine scope of work.

Attend pre-bid meetings and project locations.

Prepare quantity takeoff.

Identify labor, equipment and material requirements.

Determine production rates.

Prepare project cost estimate which utilizes company labor and equipment cost information.

Work with Project Manager for extra work/change orders.

Generate change order proposals as requested by Project Managers.

Coordinate administrative staff in sending documents to vendors and subcontractors.

The successful candidate will have:

Degree in Construction Management or related field.

Thorough knowledge regarding all facets of the civil estimating industry to include Earth Work and Underground Utilities.

Able to work with Owners and Consultants to develop scope and disposal options.

Previous Civil Construction Experience.

Experienced in HCSS Heavy bad or similar Estimating Software.

Experienced in earthwork takeoff.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient with MS Office Products.

Aptitude/Abilities/Skills:

2+ years previous related experience is required.

Must have strong organizational skills to handle the variety of tasks assigned.

Must be able to effectively communicate verbally with employees, external vendors, owners, and general contractors.

Demonstrated ability to manage budget, schedule, people, and quality of work.

Must be competent to performing complete and accurate project take offs and estimates.

Salary: 125k-150k
