Sepio Trust Company (STC), a newly chartered trust company based in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is seeking an experienced and ambitious trust officer to join our team.

This is a full-time position working as the initial trust officer for all of STCs trust accounts. The Trust Officer will work closely with the Board of Directors and STCs affiliated investment advisor, Sepio Capital, LP, to properly administer client trusts, support the cultivation of new business opportunities, and establish STC as a leader in the boutique corporate trust administration space.

Successful candidates will not only be experienced and knowledgeable in all aspects of trust administration, but will also possess an entrepreneurial, self-starter mindset and be willing to jump in and support the success of STC however is needed. The Trust Officer will be expected to self-direct their day-to-day tasks and report directly to the Board of Directors on trust administration activities.

The Trust Officer will manage the pre-approval process for all prospective trust accounts and will play a critical role in the vetting and pricing of new business. They will be expected to appropriately estimate the time and resources needed to administer each trust as well as make judgements on the level of risk inherent in the trusts structure and underlying assets.

The Trust Officer will be responsible for developing relationships with the beneficiaries, grantors, co-trustees, and the clients trusted advisors to carry out the grantors purposes and meet the needs of beneficiaries. The Trust Officer will maintain current information on b

eneficiaries and their changing needs and circumstances in order to carry out STCs fiduciary duties and to provide superior client service.

The Trust Officer will carry out all day-to-day trust administration activities and will be primarily responsible for maintaining accurate and complete client files, managing both the discretionary and non-discretionary distribution process, overseeing annual reviews, and all other tasks needed to fulfill fiduciary requirements.

The ideal candidate for this role will possess both technical strengths in trust administration and exceptional professionalism. They will be proactive in looking for opportunities to add value to STCs daily operations and will exercise good judgement in decision-making and prioritization of tasks. They will be extremely attentive to detail in order to comply with all of STCs policies and procedures, abide by state statutes, and follow trust administration and trust accounting best practices.

Please note that this position has a

hybrid

office/remote schedule. It is

not

100% remote, and the Trust Officer will be expected to be in the Jackson Hole, WY office on occasion depending on client needs and the employees proximity to Jackson Hole.

STC will consider applicants located in northern Utah, eastern Idaho, and Wyoming.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree (

    emphasis in trust administration, business, finance, accounting, or law preferable
  • Knowledge and understanding of the interpretation and practical application of document provisions, the legal framework of estate and trust administration,

    trust accounting/reporting, and other regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Knowledge of current developments in estate planning and trust administration and

    demonstrated experience with sophisticated trust and asset structures.

    Meaningful experience with directed trust structures.

  • Ability to resolve questions arising from trust account administration with minimal guidance.

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, strong professional etiquette,

    ability to maintain strict confidentiality

  • Intellectual curiosity and passion to succeed, analytical and problem-solving skills, detail orientation and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proven ability to work independently and self-manage, capable of multitasking and managing competing priorities while retaining high quality standards.

  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office suite).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5+ years of work experience in a trust department, chartered trust company, or related field.

  • Professional designation is highly preferred and may include, but is not limited to: CTFA, CFP, JD, CPA and/or graduate of trust school program (i.e. ABA, Canon). Willingness to obtain professional designations a plus and will be supported by Sepio Trust Company.

  • Experience with ultra-high net worth multi-generational $50MM+ families with complicated assets and sophisticated trust structures.

  • Background in administering trust-owned real estate, partnerships, and other unique assets.

  • Advanced knowledge of estate settlement, income, estate and multi-generational taxation and trusts.

  • Familiarity with Wyoming trust laws and statutes.

  • Experience with WealthHub or Salesforce.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as primary fiduciary and administrator for a portfolio of (primarily) directed trust accounts with responsibility for all aspects of trust administration, including quality checking of new trust accounts, pre-approval process, new account onboarding, annual reviews, ongoing administration and relationship management, and termination of trust accounts as needed. Work to ensure the execution of day-to-day account administration is happening appropriately and accurately.

  • Administer trust accounts in a manner which ensures compliance with the governing documents, corporate and regulatory compliance standards, state statutes, and STC policies and procedures.

  • Apply principles of the Uniform Trust Code and Wyomings state statutes applicable to trust administration and understand the tax implications of the various kinds of trusts.

  • Meticulously onboard new trusts, including review and interpretation of trust documents to identify any potential issues, compiling CIP/KYC information, marshalling of assets, and preparation and completion of internal account set-up forms. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of STC records and maintain requisite digital and physical files.

  • Work with third-party accountants regularly to ensure proper categorization of cash (principal and income), cost basis, tax reporting, and all other aspects of each trust. Ensure completion of annual administrative reviews and investment reviews, as appropriate.

  • Manage the trust distribution process using sound judgment and focus on quality control; ensure that funds are dispersed in a timely and efficient manner and that any payout requirements are met.

  • Participate in the development, implementation, and periodic review of STCs policies and procedures for trust administration. Mitigate fiduciary risk and ensure the completeness of STC records by performing audits and identifying areas of opportunity for enhanced processes.

  • Stay abreast of and provide analysis regarding new and pending laws and regulations which will directly affect trust administration.

  • Coordinate client and internal transactions, including money movement, with appropriate parties. Maintain superior client servicing levels throughout.

  • Work closely with affiliate financial advisors to educate prospective trust company clients on the benefits of engaging a corporate trustee, Wyoming situs, etc. and the value of STCs services.

  • Prepare for and attend Board of Director and Trust Examining Committee meetings to report on trust administration activities, including new accounts, terminated accounts, and other matters requiring discussion or approval. Serve as a member of STCs Audit & Finance Committee.

  • Be proactive in anticipating client needs and coordinate as necessary with clients other professional advisors (financial advisor, accountant, estate planning attorney, etc.).

  • Work in cooperation with state regulators during exam periods to provide requested information and documents. Work with Board of Directors to remediate any deficiencies discovered during examinations.

  • Responsible for completeness and accuracy of data in STCs CRM, WealthHub. Work with the WealthHub service team for needed updates or alterations to existing system.

  • Liaise with STCs outsourced accountant to oversee the completion of all trust accountings, tax filings, etc.

  • Demonstrate excellent customer service, attention to detail, and follow-through.
