Required:
Ability to type 70 wpm; Experience in medical transcription, data entry, computer and word processing; Dictaphone skills, 10 key (touch) calculator skills; Correct spelling and English grammar usage; 1 year secretarial or related fields experience; Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Preferred:
Knowledge of work processing/statistical/spreadsheet packages.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to work independently as well as with co-workers and clients. Must be able to prioritize work demands and organize time efficiently. Must be able to deal effectively with stress of deadlines and frequent to constant interruptions. Medium physical demand level capabilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Schedules outpatient appointments with the scheduling tools and per department protocol.
- Provides phone reception utilizing excellent service excellent techniques.
- Obtains authorizations, verifies benefits and/or Payment Assistance programs for patient care services, directly clients to Patient Financial services when appropriate.
- Creates, manages and scans chart notes to assist clinicians with patient care and following the regulatory requirements to maintain records; for example HIPAA
- Manages EHR. Work queues as delegated by lead staff.
- Registers patient accounts and audits/monitors information for accuracy and to ensure proper billing.
- Provides front desk reception duties, involving leadership when a situation has the potential to escalate or to receive recognitions for staff.
- Performs all job functions in a timely, efficient and effective manner as a part of a team.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
