The Non-Financial Risk (NFR) team is represented in Isle of Man and Jersey and supports the entire Standard Bank Offshore with 2nd line risk support on all NFRs. NFR's include but not limited to Information Risk, Third-Party Risk, Business Disruption Risk and Financial Crime Risk.
As a Risk Assurance Specialist your primary responsibility would be to provide independent, objective, and professional insights to the relevant Risk Committees, Board, and Management teams. The role involves evaluating and providing recommendations on the veracity of non-financial risk (NFR) across the Portfolio. You will collaborate with other Assurance Managers to ensure a comprehensive assessment of risks.
A key aspect of the role is to bring a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes. This will support the NFR department in achieving its objectives. The role will be responsible for planning, leading, and executing independent NFR reviews for identified portfolios throughout Standard Bank Offshore. The aim of these reviews is to enhance the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes within the Bank.
In addition to core responsibilities also lead the delivery of key NFR initiatives as required. This includes implementing automated risk assurance to embed digital assurance practices within the Bank, improving efficiency and accuracy.
Overall, a Risk Assurance Specialist role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, stakeholder management, building strong relationships and the ability to provide valuable insights and recommendations on non-financial risks. You will play a critical role in enhancing risk management practices and fostering a culture of effective control and governance within the organization.
Qualifications
Qualifications, Key Skills & Experience
Degree in Risk Management advantageous
5-7 years,Experience in conducting audits and assessments over 2-3 years, with an understanding of the business environment. Experience in banking or risk management is ideal.

Compliance Knowledge
Problem Solving
Communication Skills
Minimum 5 years Audit or Risk management and experience in financial services desirable.
Additional Information

Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough business area walk-throughs to understand the organisation's operations and support assurance planning.
Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to obtain necessary samples, documents, and data for analysis during assessments.
Perform independent reviews of Standard Bank Offshore controls and business activities to ensure compliance with regulations.
Conduct external assurance reviews when third parties are involved in the Standard Bank Offshore processes to ensure regulatory adherence.
Collaborate with the NFR manager and discuss assessment findings and recommendations before developing post-review reports.
Deliver comprehensive outcome reports of assurance reviews, highlighting identified operational risks objectively.
Provide evidence-based recommendations to the business area and report on management agreements to mitigate identified risks.
Utilise an understanding of the broader business environment and emerging risks to support recommendation development.
Contribute insights and feedback to enhance the NFR framework, tools, and profiles to align with emerging risks and threats.
