About the Employer

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County's most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students.

In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment.

Department staff are working to achieve this goal in collaboration with educators at all levels of student development, from early childhood through higher education, and in partnership with families, businesses and community organizations.

Job Summary

OCDE is looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join us as a Program Data Technician. The chosen candidate will play a crucial role in collecting, analyzing, and reporting data collected from our Student Information Systems (Aeries & SEIS). Essential functions of this position include transcript management and academic progress reviews. This candidate will also play a critical role in supporting Aeries and SEIS users with training, resources, and one-on-one technical support.

The Program Data Technician will be responsible for independently generating and validating reports for program administrators, educational partners, and State agencies. They will continuously monitor educational data across various systems to assess program effectiveness. Our ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams, strong organizational abilities, initiative, adherence to deadlines, and sound independent judgment. We are also seeking a candidate with experience with students' information systems software and data management skills.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
* High School equivalency test
* Three (3) years of increasingly responsible office administrative experience, at least two of which involved the maintenance of student records utilizing a computerized student information system similar to that used by OCDE; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
* Completion of coursework on database, spreadsheet, and other software applications is highly desirable.

3. Describe a situation where you had to input a large volume of student academic records or transcript information. How did you prioritize the tasks to ensure timely and accurate imputation of this student data?
