Main Position Objectives

The Field Service Technician provides the highest quality on and off-site technical support for the Maag family of equipment to include: plastic pelletizing systems, polymer pump and filtration systems. Working independendently but supported by others, the incumbent is the technical representative to our customers for all product maintenance, installation, and repair issues.
Position Description - Tasks, Responisibilities, Competencies

  • Independently travels nationally and internationally as Maag's primary technical representative to the customer and have the ability to perform the Service Tech/Engineer responsibilities bilingually (in Spanish and English)
  • Performs on-site and offsite PLC trouble shooting as well as programming if needed
  • Interacts with customers on a daily basis to provide solutions to issues
  • Conducts yearly follow-up calls to all Maag customers to check up on the customer and Maag machinery
  • Provide on-site support for equipment installation; mechanically and electrically as well as startup support based on the polymer application at the customer request.
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting, maintenance and repair activities.
  • Visit responsibilities include logistical planning, coordination with interagency contacts and the customer, execution of the trip and reporting activities and expenses
  • Provides training to customer in-house at Maag's facilities and at the customer location
  • Represents the company and collects customer feedback to facilitate continuous improvement opportunities
  • Conducts technical discussions regarding machinery repairs, upgrades, and selection to assist customer with a solution to their needs or problems
  • Collaborates with engineering, manufacturing, parts and equipment sales to develop customer focused solutions
The incumbent considers all interests of quality, accident prevention and occupational safety as well as environmental safety in a preventative manner within his scope of responsibility and supports the avoidance of damages to people, facilities, assets, material and enviroment actively.

Work Environment
  • Work in this position is both in an office and a factory floor environment, either locally or at a customer site. While performing the duties of this job in a factory setting, the employee may be eposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and PPE may be required.
Physical Requirements
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regulalrly required to talk or hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must be able to lift items up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision
  • Occasional prolonged sitting during international commercial air travel
Job Specification - Education

Mandatory
  • High School diploma or equivalent education (additional technical skills a plus)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
Desirable
  • Technical training in electrical systems (single-phase, 3-phase or low voltage systems)
  • Technical training on logic circuits, electric motors, gears / mechanical devices
  • Multiple language skills
Professional Experience

Mandatory
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver's license
Desirable
  • Min. 3 years of experience in a field service role
  • Min. 3 years of experience using measuring / test equipment including micrometers and mulit-meters
  • Writing progress and expense report
  • Global travel experience
  • Experience in plastics processing or rotational molding highly desirable
