Performs minor routine maintenance on equipment and vehicles. Installs, maintains, and repairs fire hydrants and assures year round infrastructure access requirements. Assists with winter snow removal operations Mows and trims grass around facilities and along fence lines, dam faces and rights of way. May assist with treatment facility maintenance and operations including monitoring treatment systems, routine sampling, testing and adjustment of chemical feed systems, as assigned. Responds to after-hours emergencies. Performs related duties. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or the equivalent and at least one to two years of relevant work experience; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience sufficient to understand and successfully perform all major job duties. Work experience may include may include completion of an apprenticeship or internship. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class-A CDL with pintle hook endorsement. Possession of or ability to readily obtain applicable NH-certified water distribution license(s), as appropriate. Knowledge and Skills RequiredKnowledge of the materials and methods used in the installation, operation and maintenance of water distribution systems. Skill in operating a variety of job-related tools, equipment and technology. Knowledge of related state and federal regulations, town ordinances and department policies and procedures. Knowledge of trench safety and other job-related safety protocols and procedures. Knowledge of underground utility excavation procedures.Skill in problem solving. Skill in prioritizing and planning. Skill in interpersonal relations. Skill in oral and written communication.Physical Demands/Work EnvironmentThe work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the five senses. The work is typically performed in indoors or outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather. The employee is exposed to dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts, or irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.Regular full-time benefits eligible position.
