JOB TITLE:
INDUSTRIAL ESTIMATOR
POSITION SUMMARY:
Estimators
are responsible for the activities that occur at the beginning of a project prior to the start of construction through the buyout of the contractors. Responsibilities include conceptual budgeting, hard bidding, scheduling and logistics planning. Safety is the number one priority at Pepper Construction and all personnel are expected to promote and exemplify safe work practices and ensure safety is appropriately budgeted for in every project. Estimators are expected to work with people in all levels of Project Management and Field Supervision to establish budget and operational priorities to help ensure a quality project.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop design build Estimates based on preliminary/concept level information
Perform lump sum/hard bid process leading a team
Perform detailed quantity surveys/take-offs both manually and electronically
Possess knowledge of and ability to develop detailed pricing (expertise in one or more trades as experience grows)
Develop comparable building analysis
Perform building systems analysis and constructability reviews
Possess knowledge of cost and pricing trends and develop escalation analysis
Develop detailed scopes of work by trade
Partner with Project Director of Industrial to support business development
Partner with Project Managers to grow our prime trade partner relations
Leadership
Provide leadership through building relationships, motivating others, providing clear direction, and cooperative teamwork
Communicate effectively; both written and verbal
Provide training and serve as a mentor
to less experienced personnel
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
B.S. in Construction Engineering or related technical area
10+ years' experience in estimating with most recent experience working on Industrial Projects
Current experience in Distribution/Warehouse with projects in excess of $75M
Current or prior experience in Cold Storage projects in excess of $25M
Current experience in national projects across the United States
Established relationships with architects/engineers that focus on industrial market
Established regional relationships with subcontractors focused on distribution centers
Established national relationships with traveling subcontractors focused on distribution centers
Established relationship with specialty MEP design build subcontractors
